The Centre Lock Shop - Rockville Centre, NY

The Centre Lock Shop

Located at 107 North Park Ave., The Centre Lock Shop Inc. has been in Rockville Centre since 1938. Originally it was located at 18 Maple Ave. where it was purchased by George F. Frey and his wife Lila in 1959. George would go out and do all the outside work and Lila would run the inside of the business. They turned a small little key cutting business into a thriving local residential business that now needed a larger location. What could be better than staying here in the beautiful town of RVC so in 1966 they purchased the house at 107 N Park Ave. There they expanded the house, built a new shop on the front, moved into the house in the back and raised their family.

Their oldest son Rick joined the business in 1967 after having served in the Marines. The shop was run by the 3 of them until their youngest son Steve joined the business in 1981. Having lived in RVC almost his whole life, Steve brought new ideas to the shop while wanting to keep that hometown feel in RVC. With the years of expert knowledge they learned from their father and the forever advancement of technology and friendly reliable service, they built the business even bigger to include many large commercial businesses and offices in Nassau, Suffolk and parts of JFK. Some of their better known customers include OTB, Tiffany's, SNCH, Orlin & Cohen, The Village of RVC and proudly most every business and home in RVC.

Sadly George passed away in 2008 but Lila has retired to sunny Florida and Rick retired in 2011 to N. Carolina. Today the business is run by Steve, his wife Janette, 2 full time employees and their 3 kids have helped out over the years while they attended school. With today's computer age the security business is in full swing and Centre Lock Shop has adapted to the times with electronic locks and all kinds of exciting new computerized hardware. And to help keep it all moving in the right direction, we are proud to announce that the 3rd generation, Douglas Frey has officially joined the business with a good chance of him taking the reins eventually. With another fresh pair of young eyes and ideas, who knows what the tiny little key cutting shop in the wonderful town of RVC will accomplish.
